Ad Habait

‘Ad Habit’ is a system designed for private builders to manage the process of building or renovating a house.

My Role

Ux design

Context

Ux design course, Technion

The problem

Building a house is a long and very complex process that includes many stages and many factors involved. In addition, mistakes in construction or incorrect planning can entail huge financial costs. My ambition was to produce a product that could facilitate this complexity.

The process

For this purpose, I interviewed 4 users who built or renovated a house in order to hear from them about the process and the difficulties. In addition, I conducted a survey to which 30 respondents answered. From the research I discovered that the process was experienced as a difficult process and that there are 4 factors that directly affect its success:

The professionals

Knowledge in the field of construction

The preliminary planning

Synchronization between professionals

These four factors, along with others that emerged from the research, were in front of me throughout the process.

With the help of the rest of the information I received from the research, I turned to characterizing the personas. Here is Noga, the main persona:

After understanding the difficulties and the users in depth, I moved on to drawing the solution. I built a business model, user stories, usage scenarios and a system tree. You can view all of these in the presentation.

The outcome

Regarding each of the wireframes below, I have detailed its advantages and how it advances the solution.

The home screen – presents the user with a current snapshot of the process, for the benefit of a sense of control: daily work plan, budget status, tasks to be handled. In addition, recommended professionals are presented according to the status of the project.

As part of the characterization process, I characterized an external site – a knowledge center where you can learn about the field of construction. The site will answer the existing difficulty for the majority of the building audience – to find their way around and act in a field they are not sufficiently familiar with. In addition, the site will offer users to purchase a subscription to the software and thus promote its marketing.

Schedule – Gantt of the construction process, according to the entered data. The system will warn about delays in the program, or the opposite – about tasks that can be brought forward. If necessary, it will also display the professionals’ availability for schedule changes.

Budget – the system will display the total expenses used by categories. Planned expenses and expected deviations – if any – will also be presented. By clicking on each category, it will be possible to view the breakdown of expenses, invoices, etc.

Simulations – in the simulations area it will be possible to view the parts of the house that have already been built, on top of the planning simulation. The system will warn of deviations from the original plan and will promote solutions for correction if necessary.

Professionals – in this section, users will be able to search for professionals as needed. In addition, this section will include all the information regarding the professionals with whom contact was made, payments made and more.
